Background

Project Background: This is Indonesia's first high-speed railway, stretching 142.3 km from Jakarta to Bandung. The route traverses tropical rainforest regions with annual rainfall exceeding 3000 mm and UV intensity up to level 9.5, leading to frequent water seepage and coating delamination at bridge joints, tunnels and subgrade seams. The project demands extremely high durability and crack resistance from waterproof and protective coatings. Technical Solution: JS single-component waterproof coating was selected as the base waterproof layer, paired with JS two-component waterproof coating to form a composite waterproof system, over which modified asphalt waterproof membrane was applied for enhanced protection. For surface protection, waterborne industrial paint was used, including an anti-alkali sealing primer, a high-weather-resistant acrylic topcoat containing film-forming additives, and an elastic anti-crack clear coat. Key performance indicators meet stringent requirements: adhesion ≥ grade 1, artificial aging resistance ≥ 2000 hours, scrub resistance ≥ 2000 times, waterproof grade up to Class I per GB/T 18173.1-2014, elastic elongation rate ≥ 150%, hiding power ≥ 98%, and VOC content ≤ 50 g/L. Construction Process: Before application, the concrete substrate must be sanded and dusted to ensure flatness deviation ≤ 2 mm and moisture content ≤ 8%. The construction environment should be maintained at 5~35°C with relative humidity ≤ 85%. First, apply one coat of anti-alkali sealing primer; after drying, apply two coats of JS single-component waterproof coating with 2-hour intervals, achieving a film thickness ≥ 1.5 mm. After the waterproof layer cures, lay the waterproof membrane, then apply two coats of waterborne industrial paint topcoat and one coat of elastic clear coat, with total film thickness ≥ 120 μm. The structure can be put into use only after full drying. Project Results: Post-construction third-party testing showed a leakage rate of only 0.02% for the waterproof layer, far below the 0.5% industry standard. The coating demonstrated artificial aging resistance exceeding 2200 hours and scrub resistance up to 2300 times, effectively resisting tropical climate erosion. The project passed all acceptance tests smoothly. The client praised the coating system for its high cost-effectiveness and strong durability, and agreed to receive regular inspection and touch-up services for operation and maintenance along the line.
