Bentonite‑880 Powder (Sodium‑Montmorillonite)
Bentonite‑880 Powder is a rheology-modifying powder specifically designed for water-based systems, suitable for interior and exterior latex paints, high-PVC primers, and textured coatings. It forms a three-dimensional colloidal network that prevents settling and sagging under low shear, while avoiding filler precipitation and phase separation. Featuring a shear-thinning thixotropic structure, it balances anti-sagging performance with smooth application properties. As an inorganic material, it offers excellent weather resistance without yellowing, does not increase medium-shear viscosity, and cannot replace primary thickeners like HEC or PU; however, it effectively improves color development and reduces color mottling. The recommended dosage is 0.3%-0.6% for general interior/exterior latex paints and 0.6%-1.2% for thick-textured stone-like coatings. A pre-gel solution with 5%-8% concentration must be prepared prior to use; direct addition of dry powder to the reactor is strictly prohibited.
