01Overview

QA‑80 Rheology Agent

QA‑80 Rheology Agent is a polyurea-based thixotropic additive specifically formulated for solvent-based coatings, including industrial coatings, two-component polyurethane paints, epoxy coatings, and automotive paints used in thick-film applications. Leveraging polyurea hydrogen bonds, it generates low-shear yield stress to effectively prevent sagging and settling of thick coatings, while eliminating defects such as pinholes and orange peel. It also exhibits excellent shear-thinning properties, facilitating smooth spraying and film leveling. The recommended dosage ranges from 0.3% to 0.8% for solvent-based topcoats, and 0.6% to 1.5% for solvent-based heavy-duty coatings and primers. For optimal thixotropic performance, it must be added during the grinding stage; adding it at the later coating preparation stage will render it ineffective. Note that it is strictly prohibited for use in water-based latex paint systems.
