Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose‑20S
HPMC-20S is a cold-water-soluble, medium-viscosity non-ionic cellulose ether that offers better flow and leveling properties than high-viscosity grades. It provides excellent thickening, water-retention, and anti-sagging performance, significantly improving the application feel of coatings while reducing cracking and brush marks. With a wide pH tolerance and good salt resistance, it is suitable for use in putties, latex paints, textured thick coatings, and fireproof coatings. It often works in combination with HEUR and HASE thickeners to exhibit thermogelling characteristics. Recommended dosage ranges from 0.25% to 0.7% for putties, 0.15% to 0.4% for latex paints, 0.1% to 0.3% for stone-like coatings, and 0.15% to 0.35% for fireproof coatings.
