Polyvinyl Alcohol 2488(PVOH‑2488)
Polyvinyl Alcohol 2488 (PVOH-2488) is a cold-water soluble polymer binder with a degree of polymerization of 2400 and 88% hydrolysis degree, specifically designed to enhance bonding strength in building dry-mix systems. It significantly improves the adhesion of putty, dry-mix mortar, and interface agents, preventing powder shedding, delamination, and hollowing while providing water retention and thickening properties. Typically blended with HPMC cellulose ether to optimize workability. The recommended dosage is 0.3–1.0% in putty formulations, with a slurry ratio of 1:60–100 (powder:water). Note that it must not be used in latex paint systems, and the slurry should be prepared fresh and treated with preservatives.
