JIASHILI's Indonesia production base officially starts operation to support localized supply in Southeast Asian paint market

JIASHILI's Indonesia production base officially starts operation to support localized supply in Southeast Asian paint market

Indonesia base located near Jakarta to address local paint supply bottlenecks

Recently, many friends working in construction projects in Indonesia told me that high-end architectural paints are often out of stock locally, with delivery periods stretching up to three months and costs 30% higher than imported products from China. Previously, JIASHILI relied on shipping from China to serve the Southeast Asian market, which came with long transit times and high logistics costs that small and medium-sized contractors couldn’t afford. JIASHILI chose to build its base 40 kilometers east of central Jakarta to solve this problem.

According to Li Wei, general manager of JIASHILI’s overseas business unit, the base covers 120 mu and is JIASHILI’s third large-scale production base overseas, following those in Vietnam and Malaysia. Construction began last March, all production equipment was commissioned by the end of August, and mass production officially kicked off on September 1. The entire construction period took just 18 months, nearly half the time of similar local projects.

Annual capacity of 500,000 tons to meet demand in six neighboring countries

Walking into the production workshop reveals a busy scene: over a dozen automated production lines are running at full capacity, filling 1,200 barrels of various architectural paints per hour. Zhang, the workshop supervisor, told me that the base currently produces three main categories: interior latex paint, exterior weather-resistant paint, and industrial protective paint. The monthly capacity for interior paint alone reaches 80,000 barrels, fully meeting local residential renovation needs.

Once fully operational, the base will have an annual capacity of 500,000 tons. Besides supplying the Indonesian market, it will also serve six neighboring countries: Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Brunei. Local building material distributors estimate that paint prices in the region will drop by about 15% after the base starts operating, greatly helping to control project costs. JIASHILI officials said they will add production lines for special functional paints based on market demand to expand their product range.

Localized operations boost employment and industrial upgrading

Beyond convenient supply, JIASHILI’s localization efforts at the Indonesia base are noteworthy. The base has already hired 320 local employees, with production workers making up over 70% of the workforce; their average monthly salary is 20% higher than the local manufacturing average. The base also partners with local vocational schools to offer paint production technology training, helping locals acquire professional skills. In the future, these trainees may be sent to work at other JIASHILI overseas bases.

For JIASHILI, the launch of the Indonesia base is not only a starting point for entering new markets but also a crucial step in deepening its presence in the Southeast Asian paint industry. JIASHILI will continue to increase R&D investment locally to develop paints better suited to tropical climates, providing higher-quality services for local construction and industrial sectors.
