Hydrous Kaolin

Hydrous kaolin is a common extender filler that improves paint film sandability and storage suspension stability while fine-tuning gloss level; it is more cost-effective than calcined kaolin. With a whiteness of 86-89, its water resistance, scrub resistance, and weather resistance are relatively weak, and it cannot replace titanium dioxide. The recommended dosage is 5%-15% for interior primer and low-grade interior paints, and 3%-8% for interior wall paints; it should be used sparingly in exterior applications, and its amount in high-gloss paints must be strictly controlled to prevent loss of gloss and roughness. It is advised to add this material during the grinding and dispersion stage together with ground calcium carbonate, talc, and titanium dioxide, ensuring thorough high-speed dispersion.
